Most of our sustainable wood stock is purchased from Rex Lumber, and all of it is sustainable wood. The great majority of the wood we purchase from Rex is FSC Certified (sustainable). While slightly more expensive, this means it carries the stamp of the Forest Stewardship Council, ensuring that it comes from sustainable, environmentally friendly sources. We like working with Rex because their kiln-dried lumber is of very high quality. They are headquartered in Acton, Massachusetts and have been in business for over 50 years. Rex offers lumber in over 20 different wood species including Ash, Beech, Cherry, Mahogany, Maple, Fishtail Oak, Poplar, and Walnut, to name just a few that we use. They have four facilities and are the largest wholesale hardwood distributor on the East Coast, employing a knowledgeable staff of over 300 people. You can read about their stock selections and the characteristics of the different wood species they offer on their website www.rexlumber.com.
